A Note from Natasha
With Summertime upon us, we at Pawsperity often see this season inspiring families, individuals, churches, and groups to volunteer. Extra free time for some, coupled with longer, warmer days, can be just the reason to want to give back to the community.
On a personal level, volunteering can foster a sense of purpose and belonging amongst like-minded people. Along those same lines, it also creates opportunities to build social connections and expand networks. At Pawsperity, volunteers are essential—they provide much-needed support, help reduce operational costs, and extend the impact while supporting our paid Pawsperity team.
We are seeing more and more companies wanting to engage in team-building activities that support Pawsperity while strengthening employee relationships during positive activities such as making bandanas for the dogs our students groom, helping with our food pantry, assisting with gardening at the Residence, and so much more. Some companies are even paying their employees to volunteer, giving them many work hours/days a year to give back, or are donating or matching gifts to the charities where their teams are volunteering.
Pawsperity is fortunate to have a large training room, which has worked well for bigger groups. It is really a win-win because so many times we can highlight these groups, whether companies, churches, or community organizations, on our social media channels. We also take the chance to tour our facility and talk a bit about our mission and what we do for our students and their families.
I encourage you, whether you want to volunteer solo, or through a group, to consider giving your time at Pawsperity. Feel free to reach out to Kate at kscott@pawsperity.org with questions. You can also sign up to volunteer directly here.
